International Day of Peace
September 15, 2008Established in 1982, the United Nations’ International Day of Peace – celebrated each year on September 21 – is a time when individuals, communities, nations and governments highlight efforts to end conflict and promote peace. The United Nations has produced a new website which encourages people to promote Peace Day events anywhere in the world. Even the simple activity of lighting a candle or taking a walk for peace can be promoted on the site.
Global Education through OzProjects has created a website to support peace building as part of the celebration of International Peace Day, which makes use of technology to explore the Peace topic.
International Peace Day is also a Day of Ceasefire – be it personal, political or military. People around the globe are encouraged to make peace in relationships as well as in the world conflict zones.
Resources relating to the Peace Studies Topic and War and Conflict can be accessed in the CMIS Resource Bank Database
