Wash Your Hands with the Wiggles

October 15, 2008

October 15 marks the first ever Global Handwashing Day, which is being highlighted by the United Nations as a major initiative of the International Year of Sanitation, to promote hygiene through washing hands with soap.

Since being appointed UNICEF Ambassadors, the Wiggles have donated the profits from many of their concerts and records to UNICEF projects. Their latest effort to help promote Global Handwashing Day has seen the release of a song for little people to encourage them to make handwashing a routine habit – especially before eating.

There is an American based Resource Pack for use in the classroom available from the Global Handwashing Day website.

DET Teachers can access further Hygiene Resources in the Health and Physical Education section of the K-10 Syllabus.
